During the summer my family and I decided to go on a road trip, we took a couple weeks to plan where we were going and the stops we were going to make and when we were going to come back home. We decided to go west and visit different places along the way. We'd go through Kansas, Colorado, Utah, Nevada, and Stop in California. We took my mother's SUV, which has room for eight people, but only four were along for the ride. My family and I started the trip at the beginning of June, our first stop was at Baxter Springs, Kansas. We saw the old Route 66, and we were going to eat at the Cafe on the Route, but we saw this old gas station with a cafe inside. We were all curious to go inside, and eat. We were also very hungry. Once we got inside, and older looking man greeted us, he seemed shocked that there were actually people in his cafe, besides the regulars. He seated us, and asked us what had made them stop by. We replied that the Cafe on the Route was too mainstream and this diner looked more authentic. He seemed amused by our answer, and asked what we wanted to drink and brought them to us right away and then took our orders. It took a while for us to get our food, but it was well worth the wait. The burger I had was the most delicious thing I had tasted in my life, and my mother was a great cook. We ate our food, and saviored every last bit of it, we stayed there after we ate our food and just chatted. A couple hours had past by, so we decided to get going. We said goodbye to the man, and he had told us we should get gas before we took off. He pumped the gas, and then let us on our way. It was a great start to our road trip, as we had many more amazing stops ahead of us.
Sounds like a great trip! It's those unexpected stops that lead to the best memories...
